Welcome
  Light does not care
whether you bend and shape metal reflectors or solve a Monge-Ampere
problem (the latter is currently responsible for 90% of all publications but
  less than 5% of installations).
  Customers don't really care
whether you set up a Poisson bracket in the phase space or you devise a
thin lens from basic laws as long as the specification is fulfilled.
Yes, sometimes there is not even a specs.
  Successful Illumination Design
considerably benefits from mastering a wide variety of techniques.
This website is part of some activities of the hosts to bring a few things

Phase space stuff the omnipresent Étendue, but also Hamiltonian optics
  and …
  We do care
There are only a few textbooks on illumination optics.
We do work on this issue.
Julius is known for his Courses. And once per year we hold a live course
together in Jena, Germany, and since 2024 we have been teaching the SPIE
  1313 short course as well.
